Second year class 2.3 held a Monster Cake Sale today to raise funds for the Donegal Donkey Sanctuary as part of their CSPE Action Project with Miss C. Gallagher. It was a great success, with all the cakes selling out like, well, hot cakes! The Donegal Donkey Sanctuary in Raphoe cares for abandoned or mistreated donkeys. This ties in with the class’s CSPE Project on Animal Rights.

The game was a lot of fun for all involved, especially with the addition of boxing gloves and the surprise appearance of referees Buzz Lightyear, Darth Vader and Turkey Murphy. After the game a number of students representing different groups in the school (Transtition Years, First and Second Year Basketball teams, the Junior and Seniour Basketball teams) made speeches thanking Miss O’Malley for her work and commitment over the years, and presented her with a number of mementos of her time at CCBS. More photos can be seen on the Photos page of the website (a link takes you to the CCBS Album on Picasa).

They defeated the teams from Castleblaney and Salerno (Galway) secondary schools, but were defeated by Templemore, who won with a mere 5 baskets. Despite being knocked out of the competition, the girls performed brilliantly and show great promise for the future.
