‘Tigerish Waters’ Casting

Congratulations to Medbh Mc Closkey (3rd Year) and Maeve Liston (TY) who have been cast in the two main roles in ‘Tigerish Waters’, a short film, written by Soinbhe Lally (Rossnowlagh) and directed by Lucy Campbell, which will be shot mainly in Rossnowlagh in March. Other members of the cast come from Transition Year: Thomas Beaumont, Patrick Gallagher, Megan Dorrian, Hannah Kane, Lorcan Feeney, Megan Lawlor and Grainne Gillespie. Students from TY with an interest in film production will also have the opportunity to be involved on the set at the time of shooting, tying in with their Digital Media/Film Production course. A number of students from Magh Ene, Bundoran, will also be involved.

Hairspray!

The final performance of Hairspray is upon us. After months of preparation the first three nights of the show have bend played to packed houses and standing ovations. All the hard work and dedication has come to fruition. While it is largely a  whole school endeavour, the two TY classes form the backbone of the production. Every member of the year has been involved whether that’s been in  set building, painting, hall management, stage crew and indeed some of the lead roles on stage. It has been a fantastic experience for all involved. Well done to everyone. Check out the Hairspray page  for photos of the night.

Girls Under-16 Basketball

On Monday 21st, CCBS defeated Ursuline Sligo’s U-16 Girls Basketball team. This was a great achievement as CCBS had already been beaten twice this year by the same team in the All-Ireland Cup and North West League campaign. The girls started brightly and rushed into an early lead and led 1-5 after the first quarter. However Ursuline fought back only allowing CCBS to score one point in the second quarter. The score at half-time was CCBS 11 – Ursuline 14. The third quarter was very exciting and also very open as both teams managed to score with some impressive offensive play. CCBS were three points behind going into the last quarter and were without two of their best players as both Cliodhna Kerr and Maever Liston were fouled off. However, they defended very well and Claudia Coughlin was exceptional as she scored 12 points in the last quarter. The final score was CCBS 33 – Ursuline 29.
